Catholic Medical Association Rallies Outside of SCOTUS for Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Oral Arguments

Philadelphia, PA – December 1, 2021—Members of the Catholic Medical Association are gathered outside of the United States Supreme Court as Oral Arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health begin.

“CMA members stand together today, united in prayer and hopeful that the health and dignity of women and unborn children will be lawfully protected and respected once again in our nation,” said CMA President and Ob-Gyn, Dr. Michael Parker.

“It is our hope and intention to send the message that not only is abortion deeply flawed morally, it is not consistent with good medical care. CMA is joined by other medical professionals and pro-life organizations on the steps of the Supreme Court, united in our plea to protect the unborn,” added Dr. Parker.

“The time has come for us to recognize that all the violence, harsh rhetoric, breakdown of the family and lack of respect many people in our society have for each other and for themselves goes back to that erroneous decision in 1973 in Roe v. Wade, which took away all protections for unborn children,” said Dr. Kathleen Raviele, Ob-Gyn and past president of CMA.

We should recall the words of Mother Teresa of Calcutta when she accepted the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979: “And I feel one thing I want to share with you all, the greatest destroyer of peace today is the cry of the innocent unborn child. For if a mother can murder her own child in her own womb, what is left for you and for me to kill each other?”

“The upholding of Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health by the U.S. Supreme Court will help to restore protection for the most vulnerable and voiceless members of our society, the unborn,” added Dr. Raviele.

CMA and its expert members remain committed to advocating for life-affirming laws, and plan to be an active voice as the case plays out in the Supreme Court over the next several months.
