World Day of the Sick - Catholic Medical Association World Day of the Sick - Catholic Medical Association

World Day of the Sick

On Thursday February 11, Catholic Medical Association invites you to join us in prayer for World Day of the Sick.

Each year, World Day of the Sick unites Catholics around the world in prayer, as we dedicate our intentions for all those suffering with illness.

The important role that prayer plays in our faith may look different for each of us, but COVID-19 has shown all of us how devastating disease can be.

As members of the CMA, we are blessed to be surrounded by others who value the healing power of prayer. CMA’s Episcopal Advisor, Bishop James Conley, shared his thoughts with me in preparation of this World Day of the Sick:

“This year, more than ever, it is important for us to remember, with our thoughts and prayers, the sick and suffering on this World Day of the Sick. We remember their families, as well as all those who care for the sick. During this pandemic, let us remember that all suffering is a share in the suffering of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and is, therefore, redemptive and not without meaning.”

May we take to heart Bishop Conley’s words, and find peace as we unite in prayer, not only for those suffering with COVID-19, but for every man, woman and child, and ask humbly for God to restore their health.

Sincerely in Christ,

Michael S. Parker, M.D.
President
