What was once heralded as the panacea for most if not all of the country’s healthcare system woes is turning out to be worse than a placebo—as the U.S. government recently announced that premiums for 2017 insurance plans sold through the Affordable Care Act (ACA or Obamacare) are increasing by 25 percent.
The increases are not all that surprising from an economic standpoint, says one economist, nor from a Catholic standpoint, says a Catholic physician and spokesman for the Catholic Medical Association, while an ACA proponent sees a solution to the healthcare woes in a better marketing strategy.
